Every factual claim on this site is checked against a primary source: the Code of Federal Regulations, the U.S. Code, a published court decision, or a federal agency's own rulemaking record. Where we could not independently verify a claim from a source we could actually read, we say so on the page itself rather than state it as settled fact, and most guides close with the sources they rest on and the date those were checked.
